Message from Business New Brunswick
and New Brunswick Film
As Minister responsible for New
Brunswick Film, it is with great pride that I offer my
congratulations to all those who have made the 2008 Silver
Wave Film Festival possible.
With each passing year, New Brunswick’s film, television and new media industry is growing. More
than 700 men and women make their living in this sector,
contributing to more than $16.5-million worth of productions
last year alone. And
in 2007, we expect productions to surpass $25-million.
At New Brunswick Film, our staff helps filmmakers,
producers, and crews hone their craft. We are also proud to provide financial assistance to
help bring their projects to the screen.
At this year’s festival, you will see a number of films
that were supported through the Short Film Venture Program
– an initiative our government provides to allow up and
coming filmmakers create a “calling card” film, and gain
valuable experience from industry professionals.
Our government is proud of the talented men and women who
are putting New Brunswick on the map as an important filmmaking destination.
Congratulations once again to the New Brunswick
Filmmakers’ Cooperative, and all those who are making the
2007 Silver Wave Festival such a success.
Greg Byrne,
Q.C.
Minister of
Business New Brunswick
